Summer Programs

Dates of Summer Learning Camp Sessions
For rising Kindergarten through 9th graders
Tuesday, May 26, 2026 - Thursday, June 18, 2026
*Summer Learning Camp will be held 4 days per week: May 26-29, June 1-4, June 8-11, and June 15-18
Summer Learning Camps will NOT be held on June 5, June 12, or June 19 (Only for mandatory Rising 4th grade attendance make-up days).
Summer Learning Camp Sessions will be held daily from 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM at Smith County Middle School. Sessions will include reading and math instruction and intervention, along with daily physical activity and STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art, and Math) time.
Extended learning opportunities will be provided for students from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM daily.
Transportation
The district plans to provide shuttle-like transportation from each school parking lot to Smith County Middle School before and after camp each day.
Food Services
Breakfast and lunch will be provided free of charge to Summer Learning Camp participants each day.

Teachers of the Year Spotlight
Mrs. Julie Thomas
Mrs. Thomas teaches 2nd Grade at New Middleton Elementary. Mrs. Thomas isa veteran teacher that has taught in Smith County Schools for over 28 years.
Mrs. Larissa Shrum
A veteran teacher with 18 years of experience, she has taught in Smith County since 2009. She teaches 7th and 8th grade English and Social Studies.
Mrs. Haley Dickerson
Mrs. Dickerson has taught for 14 years, 11 years for Smith County Schools. She currently teaches computer science and ACT prep at Smith County HS.
