I hope this message finds all students, families, faculty, and staff doing well. We have definitely had some unprecedented events take place the past few days. Many things are still uncertain, but I wanted to pass along a few things.
Food: With the exception of spring break, school nutrition will be providing FREE breakfast and lunch for ALL children 18 years and younger each day we are out of school. Breakfast is 7:30-8:30 and lunch 11:30-12:30. You can grab a meal from the front porch. You do not have to be a student at DES to take advantage of this opportunity. If you need meals delivered, please reach out to any employee and we will make it happen.
Spring Pictures: We will check about rescheduling when we return to school.
Jr. Pro Pictures: these will be delivered to your child's school upon return.
Instruction: We want our students to have the opportunity to continue learning and making progress as they have all worked so hard this school year. If you are looking for supplemental materials for your child, we have the resources available. Our teachers have worked diligently today to try and make contact with all parents or leave a message to convey this information. We have several online opportunities students can do from home with internet access. Most all students are familiar with logging on to clever through our school website. Clever will take you to all the familiar sites we use at school on a regular basis for grades 2-8. The smaller grades will get information from their teachers. If you have trouble, please reach out to your child's teacher, Mrs. Overstreet, or myself. In addition, if you do not have internet access, the Board of Education has put together packets that we will copy and deliver or make arrangements to be picked up at meal time.
Read 20 minutes a day!!! Students can AR test from home during school hours. If you need books, we have them available to be picked up during meal times from the porch.
Census 2020: You should have received this from the mail. Your response is needed for our county to receive funds for schools, roads, etc. Please take a few minutes to complete.
Thank you for your cooperation and continued support. We hope for a smooth transition through these uncharted waters so that the health and educational needs can be met as much as possible for all students. Please check back for updates as we get them!
Thanks again!
Meranda Cook, Principal
