DES Graduation
DES graduation date is set for Monday, May 18 at the Defeated Creek Marina Stage. Mrs. Amber’s Kindergarten class will be at 4:00 PM, Mrs. Katie’s Kindergarten class at 5:00 PM, and 8th grade at 6:00 PM. Inclement weather plans are TBA.
We will video each ceremony and provide a copy to every graduate at no cost.
We ask that you arrive 20 minutes prior to your child’s ceremony. If the ceremony before you is still going on, we ask that you remain in your vehicle, parked and turned off, until everyone leaves.
Members of the class of 2020 will be allowed two (2) guests per graduate. Eighth grade tickets can be picked up on Monday, May 18 from 12-2. Kindergarten tickets can be picked up on Monday, May 18 from 9 until 12. Both classes can pick up tickets at the front door of DES.
Graduates or their guests who are experiencing fever, cough, shortness of breath, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, or new loss of taste or smell will not be allowed to enter.
Ten minutes prior to the ceremony, graduates will need to report to their teacher who will be near the restaurant. We will have tape marked off on the ground 6 feet apart for them to line up.
Two chairs per graduate will be set up 6 feet apart. If you prefer to remain in your vehicle, that is fine and you will be able to see the stage.
Face masks are encouraged for anyone that wishes to wear one. Graduates will be allowed one, as well, if you wish. Face masks will not be provided.
Attire - graduation is a special occasion and we want you to look nice.
If you are borrowing a cap/gown from the school, they can be picked up on Monday, May 18 from 12-2 with tickets for eighth grade. Kindergarten can be picked up on May 18 from 9-12 at the front door of DES.
Chairs will be sprayed with disinfectant between each ceremony.
We understand that this is not the ideal situation. However, we are grateful for the opportunity to recognize these graduates who have worked so hard, even if it is a modified ceremony. We couldn’t be any more proud of the class of 2020!!
Thanks again for your cooperation and understanding and your effort to help us maintain social distancing to allow these graduates their time of recognition.
