We will begin communicating with you on a weekly basis starting early November 2022. Our communication will ensure that you are on track with your scholarship requirements and college enrollment; however, this email will provide you with an overview of your TN Promise scholarship requirements. Please read this email carefully and keep it as a reference! What is TN Promise?TN Promise is a last-dollar scholarship that funds tuition and mandatory fees for up to five semesters at a community college or eligible four-year institution, or eight trimesters at a Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT). To view the TN Promise eligible institutions, click here! TN Promise is the funding while tnAchieves serves as the partnering organization for your high school. This means that in order to receive the TN Promise scholarship at an eligible institution, you will be required to complete your scholarship requirements through tnAchieves.
As a TN Promise scholarship applicant, you are required to complete all TN Promise requirements in order to maintain your scholarship eligibility. Failure to meet all requirements and deadlines will result in the permanent loss of your TN Promise funding. Once a student becomes ineligible for TN Promise, eligibility cannot be regained at a later date! Please see below for a list of upcoming scholarship requirements; you can use this email as a checklist!TN Promise Scholarship Requirements
2023-2024 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA): The FAFSA is the primary financial aid application for students to apply for various types of state and federal aid. Students can begin completing the 2023-2024 FAFSA online beginning October 1, 2022 at StudentAid.gov. The deadline for students to complete the 2023-2024 FAFSA is March 1, 2023 in order to remain eligible for TN Promise. Please see below for important information regarding this requirement!
The application must be completed at StudentAid.gov; do not use any other websites for completion.
Be sure you are selecting the 2023-2024 FAFSA. Completing the incorrect year’s FAFSA, even by the March 1, 2023 deadline, will result in the permanent loss of your TN Promise eligibility.
The application requires you and your parent/guardian to create an FSA ID. Creating your FSA ID is not the same as completing the FAFSA. It will act as your login information as well as your electronic signature prior to submitting the application. You and your parent will need to use two separate emails to create your FSA ID. You can click here to create your ID!
You and your parent/guardian will also need your 2021 tax information to complete the FAFSA.
After successfully completing the FAFSA, you will receive a confirmation email to the email address you provided on the application. Save this email for your records!
